It&#8217;s a network of shops that sell items like rice, sugar, milk, etc. at prices lower than the local supermarket. It&#8217;s like a superhero who comes flying in to squash starvation and malnutrition!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_does_PDS_work\"><\/span>How does PDS work?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>PDS is like a machine whose parts are cogs in sync. Here&#8217;s the scoop:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Buying: The government is procuring the food grains from farming businessmen<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Storing: Those nuts and wheat grains are maintained in large warehouses<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Selling: These people run these things with serving millions of people<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Identifying: An indication of who to assist is given by ration cards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_is_PDS_important\"><\/span>Why is PDS important?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>PDS functions as a life belt for millions. It&#8217;s rather similar to a metaphor about a person having someone who is there for him\/her, the example being: he\/she gets a bed to sleep (through the night) because mapping (maintaining it) schemes the safety net of PDS. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have rural farmers who were the most affected ones when the Covid-19 pandemic hit the world, for example. They may not even have their own money to buy food in the first place, so they rely on PDS. They might have to barter the commodity, and as a result, it would take a while before they get it. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because everything else has stopped working. Farmers cannot plant, cultivate, or harvest, they become jobless, and perhaps, they no longer can buy food; children&#8217;s lives are at stake here.
