Not Your Average Fish Tale!<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The abbreviated MPEDA means &#8211; Marine Products Export Development Authority. It is not just a jargon; it is the superhero of India in the export of seafood products. Just imagine if there was a dedicated group of people working tirelessly to get the fish and shrimp from India caught in world sea water and then get them to your plates on the continents. That&#8217;s MPEDA for you!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"A_Splash_of_History\"><\/span>A Splash of History<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>MPEDA was not a surprise cut that popped up. It goes back to 1972 when India recognized the potential to make a big splash in the international market with its seafood. The government&#8217;s idea was to set up a team, let&#8217;s say, special, to boost our seafood exports. Allow me to break it down from its technical parts to some simpler form of this question:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They`re really the cool teachers of the fish farmers as they help them see the most sustainable ways of seafood farming.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They act as the middleman between Indian seafood exporters and international buyers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They are the trust officers, as they are the quality police at the Indian end, making sure only the best seafood sells.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They are looking high and low to detect the fresh foreign markets for Indian seafood.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They are the influencers of Indian seafood, endorsing it at the international food fairs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"MPEDAs_Big_Catch_Success_Stories\"><\/span>MPEDA&#8217;s Big Catch: Success Stories<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Let&#8217;s play with the numbers, shall we? The seafood exports of India were swimming in the face of a huge ocean of success. In the year 2019-2020, the country, thanks to MPEDA, exported seafood in the value of $6.68 billion, which is an unbelievably large sum of money. It would be the equivalent of filling up 2672 Olympic-sized pools with money. And guess what? The USA, China, and the European Union are the ones eating most of this. The world is going through a great hunger crisis. And countries need to join hands globally to solve it!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"How_MPEDA_Helps_the_Little_Fish\"><\/span>How MPEDA Helps the Little Fish<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>MPEDA is not all about business. They also act as the best mates for small-scale fishermen. The following are the ways they do it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They run education programs that transform basic farm workers into seafood producers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They provide funds to buy technological solutions to be able to fish and not just catch individual fish!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>On the other hand, they also provide a series of laboratories to check the quality of the fish so that even small fishermen are able to export it to many other lands.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They host events where small farmers can show the products to the would-be buyers.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Future_MPEDAs_Next_Big_Splash\"><\/span>The Future: MPEDA&#8217;s Next Big Splash<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>MPEDA is not a done deal business, they are always fishing for ideas.
