PO: Purchase Order Unveiled
PO being “Purchase Order” as its short-term makes it easy for me to denote it in the text. As the PO is a document that the buyer utilizes to let the seller know what they want to buy, it is similar to a shopping list, only that more official.
The ABCs of Purchase Orders
A purchase order is similar to a document that assures, but it is in writing. It would be like saying, “Hey, I’m going to buy this from you.” It is full of your tasty details-the specifics are what you are buying, what quantity, the delivery time and the money you will pay. Therefore, it is the first part of a business transaction and it sounds like you want to go on a date with someone before you get married!
Why POs Are a Big Deal
- They always give clarity between buyers and sellers
- There will be no room for misunderstanding what is being sold, the buyers are just like a shield against it
- Their existence is a proof that you have the transactions to settle things.
The Life of a PO
The main content of it is as follows: You need stuff, so you write a PO. Then, you send it over to the seller. With a quick browse-over, they show that they are good to go and happy with it, so they give you thumbs up. Next, they deliver the items to you and you pay when you get the invoice. Imagine it a perfectly matched dance!
What’s in the Secret Sauce?
A good PO might consist of the following:
- One unique number (just like an ID card)
- A date (because the timing is crucial: without the right date the order might not be met)
- The Purchaser, who is the customer, owns it
- The Seller, who is a person you are working with
- The Item you are getting (i.e. the main actor in the story)
- The Quantity of the object (because size matters: more people specify their specificationgs that way)
- The Price (the most difficult part) is found in the table
- The date you need it before/period it should take (like the longer you not to do it through the window, the shorter and more painful February will seem.)
PO: The Chameleon of Acronyms
Right when you may be counting the peas on the PO plate and chuckle lighter getting a deal with the face they may come out as various P.O. (or Point of Origin) to explain themselves. Here are some other POs that you will come across:
- Post Office (Mail Services): It is the place letters are sent to find the places they will spend eternity.
- Police Officer (Law Enforcement): These are those behind the scenes that work to keep the city safe, grant the tourists locking, but fine the citizens for speed.
- Per Os (Medical): Yes, it sounds fancy but this just means “take your meds by mouth.”
- Product Owner (Software Development): The main person behind the new product is the product owner. Think about it as if a software Picasso had created the art that you were in love with. This person would be the “artist” and “mastermind” at the same time.
- Petty Officer (Military): You may think of it as the lowest rank, but it is actually one of the superior ranks in the navy.
- Piss Off (Slang): You mumble through gritted teeth which are straining to keep your lips shut, “.&#%” when they are really annoying,
- Portable Object (Programming): It is a program file used to make software communicate in different languages.
- Parole Officer (Criminal Justice): The officer is the one who maintains the bond that former prisoners have by ensuring that they follow the rules that other people have to follow. They are forbidden from taking a drink or entering regulated areas without the officer’s authorization. Is this an alias to escape from nagging?
- Push Off (Sports): It is a game where a player is trying to outmaneuver the other one so that they slip and get caught by the officials.
- Power Off (Electronics): It is a command that comes to use when you are eating dinner at the table and your phone is on your lap. You can’t text your friends.
