To be precise, we&#8217;re talking about the head of a state, the most influential politicians, the highest government officials, judges, army commanders, and also, their spouses or friends. It&#8217;s like a who&#8217;s who of politics!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Why_All_the_Fuss\"><\/span>Why All the Fuss?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Banks and financial institutions, in general, pay much attention to PEPs. So what do banks do? Well, it is absolutely not the matter that they are looking for some or other signatures! PEPs are seen as dangerous, as they might get involved in a corrupt act, tax evasion, or even money laundering. It is in fact like having a financial spotlight on you 24\/7.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_PEP_Treatment\"><\/span>The PEP Treatment<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>In case you are a PEP, you can be sure that the bank will pay far more attention to your financial transactions. They will be searching every single document to ensure that it&#8217;s all right. Traditionally a person that was an office holder is given a one-year PEP status after being out of office. After that, if you qualify, you can blend back into the crowd of common people. It&#8217;s like financial witness protection \u2013 you get to blend back into the crowd!<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"The_Global_PEP_Scene\"><\/span>The Global PEP Scene<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>PEP regulations are not only from one country but also from the world. It&#8217;s all part and parcel of fighting financial crimes worldwide.
